In 2008 The Victorian Eventer's Association will again be holding the Horse and Rider of the Year Leaderboard competition in conjunction with "Shark Net Joint Powder Concentrate" by "Equine Health Science" (please see brochures attached) and  Malcolm Byrne Saddlery .

Riders have the opportunity to participate in the Rider of the Year Leaderboard (Open Award) or the Amateur Rider of the Year Leaderboard with the chance of winning product from "Shark Net Joint Powder Concentrate" by "Equine Health Science" and a trophy jacket kindly donated by Marqit Promotions.

The Rider of the Year (Open Award) is open to all Victorian riders competing at Victorian events who have ridden above One Star Level while the Amateur Rider of the Year is open to all Victorian riders competing at Victorian events who have NEVER competed above One Star Level.

Horses have the opportunity to participate in the Horse of the Year Leaderboard (Open Award) with the chance of winning a fabulous prize from  Malcolm Byrne Saddlery .

The 2008 Victorian Eventer's Association Horse and Rider of the Year awards will be presented to the horse and riders who accumulate the most points from the period of 1 July 2007 to 30 June 2008 at the VEA Cocktail Party held on 2 August 2008. Be sure to be there to collect your award!

By great demand, the Victorian Eventer's Association, in conjunction with Marqit Promotions is pleased to announce the 2008 VEA Groom of the Year Award.

Designed to recognise those that contribute and service Victorian Event Riders, the 2008 VEA Groom of the Year Award is open to any individual who has assisted another in the preparation and completion of a Victorian Event.

It is important to note that all grooms, mothers, fathers and generous friends and family are eligible for this award, not just professional grooms.

This year, VEA is calling for nominations for the 2008 VEA Groom of the Year Award . The award will be presented at the 2008 VEA Cocktail Party to be held on 2 August 2008.

If you feel that someone you know deserves this award, and you would like them to be recognised for their special contribution, please email your nomination and your reason to viceventers@yahoo.com.au

The National Selectors of the Equestrian Federation of Australia have nominated the following horse and rider combinations to the Australian Olympic Committee for the Equestrian Team to compete at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. The Team will be officially announced by the AOC on 11 July.

Theodore O'Connor, the 13-year-old eventing "super pony" was euthanized today as a result of an injury sustained in an accident at Karen and David O'Connor's barn in The Plains, Va., according to a statement released by the U.S. Equestrian Federation. Click here

22/5/08 NEW HORSE IDENTIFICATION REGULATIONS

Comes into effect as of 1 July 2008

All new horses registered from 1 July 2008 must be microchipped. If you wish to register a horse and purchase performance cards for the new season 2008/2009 this rule applies.

If you wish to pay your membership and purchase performance cards in June you will be required to comply with the 2008/2009 regulation.
