Congratulations to the winners of the Rider of the Year Awards:

Open award-

Winner- Katja Weimann

Amateur Award-

Winner-Linda Williams

In 2008 / 2009, Victorian eventers have had some tremendous success. None more so than Katja Weimann and Linda Williams. Katja's success is evident in the final standings of the 2005 Victorian Eventer’s Association (VEA) Rider of the Year Leaderboard where Katja gathered more points than any rider ever before to win by a massive 72 points from her nearest rival. Linda Williams managed to beat a strong and closely packed field with consistent efforts throughout the year.

The Horse of the Year was awarded to BP Gallantry. An amazing year for Katja was reflected in the fact that the top three horses for the year were all hers!

The 2009 VEA Rider of the Year , proudly sponsored by Swish horse rugs, was open to all Victorian riders competing at Victorian events. The Amateur Rider of the Year was sponsored by OZ equestrian photography who provided many of the photos for the night.

In second place in the Rider of the Year was Emily Anker who has been busy competing overseas with Balmoral Cavalier. Unfortunately for Emily, only points won at Victorian events count toward the Rider of the Year awards.

Katja and Linda both received $500 prize money, while Katja's horse BP Gallantry received a tailor made rug from Swish rugs.

Congratulations to both Katja and Linda on their remarkable performances this season.

The Victorian Eventer’s Association would like to thank Swish Rugs, OZ Equestrian, Tuff Rock equestrian supplies, Candlebark Horse Trials, Ballarat Horse Trials, The Tack Box Saddleworld for their support of the VEA Rider of the Year Cocktail party.
